NLSARA to Commence Delivery of New Training Standards
During this past summer, the NLSARA was involved in the development of the Train the Trainer program. This program was designed for training officers, course leaders, and trainers who want to develop and reinforce their instructional techniques, learn how to expertly facilitate learning, and sharpen their presentation skills.
The course provides designated trainers with an opportunity to learn the principles of adult learning and to practice facilitation skills using the content the NLSARA’s training standards.
The Train the Trainer package consists of a training manual, PowerPoint presentation, lesson plans and presentation evaluation forms.
The program commenced with the certification of five Instructor-Trainers during a training session in St. John’s in June.
It will be the responsibility of these Instructor-Trainers to deliver the Train the Trainer program to all SAR teams throughout the province in a series of regional training sessions.
The Train the Trainer roll-out program will commence in Labrador in September, with regional training sessions being held in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and Churchill Falls during the weekend of September 23-25 and in Labrador City During the weekend of September 30 to October 2.
Regional training sessions for the island portion of the province will commence in mid-October with sessions being held in Stephenville Crossing, Deer Lake, Grand Falls, Clarenville and Bay Roberts.
Dates for these sessions will be announced as soon as all details for the final schedule are worked out.
