NLSARA Executive Review New Training and Proficiency Standards Development
On December 8th, a meeting was arranged in St. John's between the Program Development Officer, the NLSARA executive and directors, and representatives from the RCMP and the RNC. The purpose of the meeting was to present the training materials developed to date and to have the representatives carry out a detailed review and editing of the documents. The representatives were given until Mid-January 2005 to submit their review.
The meeting was also used to outline the final plan for the development of the Searcher III and Search Manager training programs. The new training and proficiency standards were well accepted by all.
The group was also briefed on the current status of the OBS in light of their recent movement to Transport Canada.
On December 9th, a meeting was arranged between the Program Development Officer, the Project Manager and the staff of OBS. The purpose of the meeting was to document the history of NLSARA and OBS partnership, to collect materials utilized by the NLSARA on behalf of OBS, and to formalize the process used by NLSARA members to effectively deliver boating safety programs and activities.
